Together with our partner organizations from Croatia, Greece and Hungary, we are leading a European research project to improve surveillance of disease outbreaks.

The European HERA 2 project aims to consolidate infrastructure processes for whole genome sequencing and real-time PCR in order to be better prepared to meet the challenges of disease outbreak surveillance and to manage future public health emergencies. Other important goals include technological aspects such as the implementation of visualization tools and platforms for data exchange, as well as the modeling of an alert system.

With a project volume of over 3 million euros, the project "Consolidation of WGS/RT-PCR and infrastructure processes in surveillance and outbreak investigation activities" is led by us, together with our partner organizations from Croatia, Greece and Hungary. The collaboration ensures a cross-cutting, interdisciplinary Global Health and One Health approach that focuses on specific challenges to promote and further facilitate highly specialized analytical workflows.

HERA 2 is co-funded by the European Commission's Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) under its EU4Health program.
