The aim of this focal action was to obtain an up-to-date overview of the composition, quality and possible contamination with veterinary drugs and pesticides of honeys offered on the Austrian market that originate from the EU (but not from Austria) and from third countries. 62 samples from all over Austria were examined. 15 samples were objected (partly several times):

• there were no objections due to pesticide and veterinary drug residues
• two samples were unsuitable for human consumption/intended use due to pharmacologically active substances not permitted in honey
• the remaining complaints were related to errors in labeling.
