The aim of the focus action "Safety of Fashion Dolls" was to check whether the requirements of the Toy Ordinance are met or whether banned phthalates are used. 30 samples from all over Austria were examined. 13 samples were objected to (in some cases for several reasons):

• The use of banned phthalates (plasticizers) was detected in six samples.
• Twelve samples were rejected due to errors in the required warnings or in the labeling
• One sample (baby doll) was appealing to children under 3 years of age, but contained small parts that pose a risk (swallowing) to children under 3 years of age
• For twelve samples, the requested declaration of conformity was not submitted or was defective
