The aim of the focus action was to check whether or to what extent the toys currently on the Austrian market meet the requirements regarding the acoustic properties of toys of the European standard EN 71-1 - in particular Z 4.20 - and to withdraw dangerous products from circulation.
72 samples from all over Austria were examined. 27 samples were rejected, some of them several times:
- nine samples were rejected due to safety deficiencies
- nine samples were found to have labeling deficiencies
- 17 samples were rejected due to a missing or defective EC declaration of conformity
- one sample was rejected due to deficiencies according to the Toy Marking Regulation (CE marking not correct)
