The objective of the focus action was to verify compliance with regulations on microbiological criteria for food. Kebab skewers are rarely sampled in routine operations. These dishes do not have a small share in communal catering. Furthermore, there was an amendment to the regulation on food additives that allows a defined amount of phosphates. This has now been systematically tested for the first time.
30 samples from all over Austria were examined:
- Five samples were to be assessed as unsafe - unsuitable for human consumption due to the detection of salmonellae
