The aim of the focus campaign was to test products that are sold via electronic media (web shops) and are often not covered by "classic" on-site sampling.
35 samples from all over Austria were analysed. 22 samples were rejected (in some cases several times):
- 16 samples were objectionable in accordance with the Food Information Regulation - LMIV, Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011
- Eight complaints were made under the Regulation on nutrition and health claims made on foods - ClaimsV, Regulation (EC) No. 1924/2006
- Two samples did not comply with the Novel Food Regulation (EU) 2015/2283
- One sample was objectionable due to labelling violations based on the Food Supplements Regulation - NEMV, Federal Law Gazette II No. 88/2004 as amended
The complaints regarding inadmissible claims (inadmissible misleading or health-related information in accordance with Art. 7 FIR or unauthorised health claims) were made exclusively on the basis of the claims on the product-related websites.
