The aim of the focus campaign was to ensure compliance with the requirements for cosmetic products through distribution channels other than the major retail chains.
36 samples from all over Austria were analysed. 14 samples were objected to (in some cases several times):
- A CBD gel was objected to several times: due to misleading claims, unauthorised claims, unsubstantiated advertising claims and an inadequate safety assessment/product information file
- One soap was labelled as a natural soap, although substances were used that are not permitted for natural cosmetics
- Two samples were advertised with the claim "free from preservatives", although these products do not require preservation because they are anhydrous and therefore do not cause germination
- Labelling deficiencies were found in ten samples
- Notification was missing for four samples
- One sample lacked the legally required labelling in German
