Final report of the priority action A-035-23

The aim of the priority action was to examine the current situation on the Austrian market with regard to the metals lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in processed fishery products and animal fats.

72 samples from all over Austria were analysed.

  • None of the samples were objectionable

Inorganic arsenic was detected in one sample of mussels and the cadmium content was close to the limit value. In one sample of smoked oysters, the cadmium concentration was also close to the maximum permitted level.
