The aim of the focus action was to obtain an overview of whether or to what extent toys imported directly into Austria (including toys from the lower price segments = "cheap toys") meet the requirements of the Toy Ordinance. 33 samples from all over Austria were examined. 17 samples were objected (partly several times):
- one sample was judged to be "harmful to health" due to detachable small parts
- three samples were found to be "not in compliance with the safety requirements of the Toy Ordinance".
- eight samples were rejected because of defective EC declarations of conformity
- five samples were rejected due to deficiencies according to the Toy Marking Regulation (missing information regarding name/address or identification marking, CE-marking not correct)
- six samples were found to be defective in terms of labeling
