The aim of the focus campaign was to determine whether the type and quantity of colourings used for fine baked goods and their fillings, coatings and decorations comply with legal requirements. The results are also used to calculate the intake of colourings via food in Austria.

43 samples from all over Austria were analysed. Three samples were rejected:

• All three samples due to composition: the amount of colouring was too high in two samples. An unauthorised colouring was detected in the decoration of one sample
