The aim of the focus campaign was to check the stationary conventional retail trade for illegal medicines, as medicines in Austria may generally only be sold through pharmacies. Regardless of the form of distribution, only authorised medicinal products may be sold. This year's inspection focussed on products for external use.

36 samples were analysed. Of these, 34 samples were assessed by the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) as illegal medicinal products:

• Seven functional medicinal products with pharmacologically active ingredients
• Seven medicinal products for presentation that were categorised as medicinal products due to their claims
• 20 medicinal products for presentation that were also classified as functional medicinal products due to the pharmacologically active ingredients they contain
