This is an overestimate because the coverage of people who left the country is very incomplete (e.g., migrant workers from Europe working mainly in the tourism industry, rejection of asylum applications). According to data from the umbrella organization of social security institutions, 7,396 people received therapy with anti-HIV drugs ("antiretroviral therapy -ART") in 2021, 67% of whom were served by AHIVCOS treatment centers.
