Since 2014, Austria has been part of the EuroMOMO network for monitoring weekly all-cause mortality and estimating excess mortality.

Based on the EuroMOMO model, we observe a low excess mortality in the Austrian total population in week 29, 2022. This results primarily from a low excess mortality among the over-65s. We observe no excess mortality for the other age groups. The level of cumulative excess mortality in 2022 is in the range of those in 2019-2021 and is lower than those in 2017 and 2018.
