The aim of the focus action was to examine the special oils available on the domestic market with regard to labeling, organoleptics, composition, residues and contaminants.

92 samples from all over Austria were examined. 35 samples were rejected:

• All complaints concerned labeling deficiencies and/or misleading information.

In Austria, there are many small producers who manufacture special products such as linseed, hazelnut, walnut, peanut, soybean, safflower, hemp, poppy seed, grape seed or wheat germ oil. These are often only produced in small quantities and are often only marketed on the local market.
