The aim of the focus action was to check the labeling and composition of table sweeteners and to test the hygiene status of liquid table sweeteners.

36 samples from all over Austria were examined. Twelve samples were rejected:

• The complaints mainly concerned labeling deficiencies.
• The microbiological examination did not reveal any abnormalities with regard to the hygiene status of the samples.

It also became apparent during earlier focus campaigns that the labeling requirements for table sweeteners have not yet been fully implemented.
