The aim of the priority action was to determine the status of contamination of meat and fish produced in Austria with dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorinated pesticides, perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl compounds (PFAS) and heavy metals as well as compliance with the applicable maximum levels.
41 samples from all over Austria were analysed. Two samples were rejected:
- One sample for exceeding the maximum level for the sum of dioxins and PCBs
- One sample due to contamination with N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET)
