The aim of the priority action was a nationwide survey of the contamination of milk, eggs and honey from Austrian primary production with residues of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and environmental contaminants. 757 samples from all over Austria were examined. Four samples were objected to:

• One sample of cow's milk due to a maximum level exceedance of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac.
• One sample of egg due to a maximum level exceedance of the coccidiostat salinomycin
• Two honey samples: One sample had an exceedance of the maximum level of the insecticide flonicamid. The antibiotic dihydrostreptomycin was detected in one sample.

NSAIDs are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Coccidiostats are drugs used to prevent and treat coccidiosis, an intestinal disease in chickens caused by certain protozoa. Flonicamide is an insecticide; dihydrostreptomycin is an antibiotic that is banned for the treatment of bees.
