This focal action served to verify the implementation of general and specific hygiene requirements and to verify self-monitoring in approved high-risk establishments (= establishments handling and processing food of animal origin). 276 food samples from all over Austria were examined. Six food samples were rejected in total:
- for milk, five of the 163 food samples were rejected (four samples due to Escherichia coli, one sample due to coliform bacteria)
- for meat, one of the 80 food samples (because of listeria)
