The aim of the focus action was to obtain a representative and reliable database for assessing the exposure of consumers and to monitor compliance with the legal maximum residue levels of pesticides in selected foodstuffs.
Of the 826 samples tested from all over Austria, 30 samples were objected to:
- 30 samples were objected to because of undoubted exceedance of maximum pesticide residue levels. Of these, one sample of mango from the Dominican Republic was judged "harmful to health" and three samples (two samples of sweet peppers and one sample of lemons from Turkey) were judged "unfit for human consumption".
- In 16 food samples from organic farming, residues above the analytical limit of quantification were confirmed
