The aim of the priority action was to generate a representative and reliable database for the assessment of consumer exposure and to monitor compliance with the legal maximum residue levels of pesticides in selected foodstuffs. The monitoring program serves the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as an additional data basis for exposure assessment.
Of the 822 samples examined from all over Austria, 51 samples were objected to:
- In addition to the MRLs being exceeded beyond reasonable doubt in 51 samples, five samples of these were classified as "harmful to health" and eight samples of these were classified as "unfit for human consumption" based on the expert exposure assessment.
