The objective of the focus action was the control of mycotoxins and the verification of the nutritional information in breakfast cereals. 50 samples were taken throughout Austria; no sample was objected to. Fusarium toxins are poisons (mycotoxins) formed by molds of the genus Fusarium. The molds attack plants already in the field; affected crops are cereals (wheat, oats) and corn, which are mainly contaminated by Fusarium. The quantities of declared nutrients were also checked.
