The aim of this focus action was to obtain an overview of the contamination with mineral oil residues in bread, cookies, breakfast cereals, canned fish and sausages.

52 samples from all over Austria were examined.

This focus action was a monitoring action. Monitoring is carried out to obtain an overview of the status of compliance with specific food law issues. In the process, a simplified sampling is carried out. If a violation of food regulations is suspected, the competent authority is informed. Monitoring samples do not result in any immediate action, but the authority takes action to determine the causes of the anomaly.
