The objective of the focal action was to collect data regarding compliance with food regulations for drinking water from small water supply systems (WVA).

198 samples from all over Austria were examined. 24 samples were rejected:

• 23 samples were unsafe - unsuitable for human consumption due to microbial contamination (predominantly E. coli, enterococci).
• One sample was unsafe - unsuitable for human consumption due to its excessive nitrate content (a follow-up check at this sampling point outside the action was unremarkable).

In 42 samples, the fluoride content was above the limit of determination. The highest value of 1.0 mg/l was below the parameter value of 1.5 mg/l.
