The aim of the focus action was to check raw milk, which can be taken directly from the raw milk vending machine by the consumer, for its microbiological status and for residues of cleaning agents. It is essential for the safe consumption of raw milk that it is boiled before consumption. For this reason, the raw milk vending machine must display the notice "Raw milk, boil before consumption." 73 samples from all over Austria were tested. 23 samples were rejected:

• The total bacterial count for aerobic mesophilic germs was exceeded in 23 samples.
