The aim of the priority action was to implement the EU-wide control plan for foodstuffs placed on the market in the European Union for milk, eggs and honey in accordance with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/932 and Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/931.
97 samples from all over Austria were analysed. Two samples were rejected:
- The maximum levels for perfluoroalkyl substances were exceeded in one sample of ostrich eggs. In addition, this sample was found to contain elevated levels of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs. The competent authority initiated investigations to determine the source of contamination
- One sample of honey was objected to due to its increased content of hydroxymethylfurfurol
