he aim of the priority action was to analyse dried seaweed for iodine, as some of it has a very high iodine content, which can pose a health risk. The labelling was only checked with regard to the information on safe preparation and the information on quantitative use in connection with an increased iodine content.

29 samples from all over Austria were analysed. Four samples were rejected:

• Two samples were harmful to health due to the high iodine content
• Two samples due to labelling deficiencies
