The aim of the action was to test pacifiers for infants and young children with regard to their chemical properties. 18 samples from all over Austria were tested:
- no sample was objected to
To check safety, the European standard EN 1400 defines the minimum safety requirements and test methods for pacifiers (mechanical as well as chemical requirements): These include volatile components in the teat material, the use of bisphenol A in the shield, migration of certain elements such as chromium, lead, etc. in the shield as well as in the teat, or nitrosamines.
