The aim of the priority action was to monitor compliance with the maximum levels of pesticide residues in or on food of plant and animal origin. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) produces an annual report with processed and evaluated data from all EU Member States and some European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. The data are used to estimate actual consumer exposure to pesticide residues and are the basis for recommendations regarding future pesticide residue monitoring measures at the European level. 151 samples were analyzed. One sample was rejected:
- In a sample of pears/origin Turkey, the maximum residue level for the insecticide diflubenzuron was exceeded beyond reasonable doubt. The approval for this active ingredient expired at the turn of the year.
