The aim of the focus action "Composition and Labeling of Sweeteners and Table Sweeteners" was to examine the composition and labeling of these products. 39 samples from all over Austria were examined. 14 samples were objected to (of which some samples were objected to more than once):

• in seven samples, mandatory compositional information was deficient or missing
• in four samples containing polyols, the obligatory consumption information ("may have a laxative effect if consumed in excess") was incorrect or missing
• six samples contained inadmissible nutritional or health claims
• seven samples did not comply with the requirements of the Food Information Regulation
