The aim of the focus action was to verify compliance with the legal requirements regarding formaldehyde, which is banned for nail hardening. 30 samples from all over Austria were examined. Six samples were objected to (in part several times):

• in one sample formaldehyde was detected at the level of 1.6
• three samples were advertised as "formaldehyde-free", "contains no formaldehyde" or a similar statement. However, since this is advertising with self-evidence and only the minimum legal requirements are met, this is inadmissible
• in the case of two samples, non-compliance with the legally prescribed labeling requirements was objected to, such as the absence of the batch number and the expiry date, poor legibility and the lack of a precautionary statement in the German language
• in the case of one sample, the lack of notification was objected to
