The Department of Pesticide and Food Analysis (PLMA), of the Institute of Food Safety Innsbruck is entrusted with the tasks of the National Reference Laboratory for Residues of Pesticides. In this area of responsibility fall the NRL agendas of the matrix classes:

• Fruit and Vegetables (FV)
• Cereals and feed (CF)
• Food of animal origin and commodities with high fat content (AO)
• Single methods (SRM)

• Pesticide analysis as part of the national residue control plan for pesticide residues and for the multi-year EU monitoring programme
• Supporting the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in the annual preparation of the National Residue Control Plan for pesticide residues
• Carrying out confirmatory analyses
• Comparative laboratory analyses for routine laboratories
• Development and validation of new analytical methods
• Committee activities
